Residential Window Film Federal Tax Credit

As of January 1, 2009, the federal tax credit for qualifying window film installations was increased to 30% of film cost up to maximum total credit of $1,500.  In past years, the amount qualifying for credit was only 10% of film cost up to maximum total credit of $500.  This 30% credit is in addition to any past credit used.

The tax credits for qualifying window film installations have been extended through end of 2010, but the stringency for installations to qualify, if at all, will be much more difficult beginning after December 31, 2009, so consumers need to understand that installations which may qualify in 2009 may not qualify in 2010. Therefore it is to your advantage to have any such work done before the end of 2009.
